WHAT'S THE CONCEPT of THE HUB?
The Creative Process HUB is an online resource for educators interested in emphasizing the role of the creative process in their curriculum. Included on this site are reference materials for course work related to planning, implementing and assessing student work around the art of process. Source material and current research are readily available to users, and teachers also have access to a live blog so they can contribute their own experiences, exemplary project work and cutting edge resources.
Most immediately, The Creative Process Hub is a critical resource for Avenues educators who are teaching Introduction to Creative Process, a required foundations class for all incoming 9th graders. Historically, a course that has been taught in the art studio, in the fall 2019, we are launching our first Introduction to Creative Process: Music section with the aim of developing the course for Drama in 2020. To ensure cohesive implementation in various disciplines, our course materials need to exist in one place. While there is room to be inventive within the curriculum, there are clear intended outcomes that transcend disciplines. All students who take ICP regardless of discipline music, art or drama, will leave with the same skill set that in turn, can be applied to other course work.
